goofy-foot

The story about skateboards

Winning entry for the VJ completion organised by Tampere Film Festival and Projio Festival.
All participants we given topic: urban culture and skateboarding and music to use for their video or animation. After some concepting and brainstorming I came up with the idea of the goofy-foot.

In skateboarding, they divide people to regular and goofies, who are more comfortable skating with the right leading foot. I am goofy, and all people in the work are goofies, including the astronaut. Also, I wanted to unite this idea with urban culture and urbanism in general. Hence main texture is concrete with splashes of sunlight coming from behind. I also used animated photogrammetry of the sculpture from the Hämeensilta (bridge in the Tampere central district) made by the prominent Finnish sculptor Wäinö Aaltonen to add more connection with the city.

Animation was created in Cinema 4D and rendered with Redshift, some effects and post production in Final Cut Pro
